Demellweek took a dominant victory in Race 1 by 9.8s, capitalising on a late mistake by leader Wickham.
Triple Eight junior Wickham held on to second position, coming home ahead of Hunter Salvatore, with Will Lowing and Lachlan Mineeff rounding out the top five.
Demellweek shot to second position through Turn 1 on the opening lap, holding on around the outside with an impressive move on Salvatore.
Wickham led the field away from pole position and managed the race for the opening half.
Demellweek continued to apply pressure to the leader, until Wickham ran wide at Turn 2, relinquishing the lead.
The battle in the back half of the top five came to blows in the early laps when Lowing and Jamie Rowe came together, leaving Rowe with damaged front right suspension.

Wickham bounced back in Race 2 to take his seventh victory of the season, capitalising on a late-race mistake by race leader Lowing.
Demellweek held on to second despite appearing to struggle in the closing laps, with Seth Burchartz in third place.
Brad James came home in fourth, while Giuseppe Imbrogno rounded out the top five.
Demellweek led the field away, but it was Salvatore that got away to the best start of the lead group, however had nowhere to go, dropping back to fourth behind Lowing.
Several cars were left stranded on the opening lap with suspension damage after contact through Turn 2 and 3, drawing the safety car.
Lowing took the lead two laps after the restart, while Salvatore spun at the final corner, plummeting down the order.
Demellweek was forced to defend from Wickham int he closing laps, before Lowing spun by himself at the final corner on the penultimate lap, allowing Wickham through to the lead.
The Australian Formula Ford Championship returns on Saturday for qualifying at 10:30am AEST, before two more races.
Legend Cars Australia
Current Australian title holder Ruben Dan took victory in the opening race during the daylight.
Dan led home his CXC Racing teammate Dylan Thomas by just 1.5s, with Josh Craig crossing the line in third.
Rob Hogan came home in fourth place, with Jamie Craig rounding out the top five.
Both Craigs continued their strong form in Race 2, with Josh claiming the victory ahead of Thomas.
Chais Tippett came home in third position, ahead of Jamie in fourth, and Josh Benaud in fifth.
Drama struck Dan late in the race, falling well down the order to a 31st place finish.
Josh led Jamie home in a Craig 1-2 in Race 3, with Thomas settling for third after a close battle with Jamie and Tippett.
Benaud got away to a fast start from down the order, leading the field on the exit of Turn 1, before the first of two safety cars was deployed on the opening lap.
Riley Skinner and Sam Simpson ended up off the road in between Turns 4 and 5, stuck in the sodden grass.
Several drivers encountered issues in the closing laps, including Scott Melville and James Brett.
Legend Cars Australia returns for two more races on Saturday, the first of which at 11:30am.
Australian IRC Racing Series
Lee Stibbs added to his win tally with yet another victory in the opening IRC sprint race for the weekend.
Geoff Taunton came home in second in his return to racing following a lengthy stint on the sidelines due to a heavy crash last year at Sandown.
Danny Stutterd came home in third, ahead of Geoff Emery, with James Parker rounding out the top five.
Emery had qualified on pole, but took the start at the rear. The veteran set about a charge through the pack, carving his way back to the top five.
IRC returns for the first of three more races on Saturday at 9:00am.
Formula RX8
Stiaan Kriel took a comfortable victory in the opening race, coming home by 10.5s lead even with a two lap dash to the finish after a late yellow flag.
Matthew Boylett bounced back from a tough qualifying to finish second, carving through the field in the opening laps.
Geoff Connell held on to third, ahead of Toby Waghorn and Sean Bennett.
Antonio Cafiso had an opening lap to forget after qualifying on the front row.
Cafiso slid off the road on the exit of Turn 7, spinning through the Turn 8 hairpin.
He then spun at high speed through Turn 1 on the following lap, recovering to finish sixth.
Justin Barnes drew the safety car after spinning on the exit of the final corner, colliding with the concrete barrier ahead of the pit lane entry.
Kriel swept both races with a comprehensive victory in Race 2, taking the win by 32s.
Boylett held on to second place after a spirited battle with Waghorn, with Connell and Cafiso rounding out the top five.
Formula RX8 returns for two more races under lights on Saturday, with Race 3 set to commence at 6:30pm.
Australian Drivers’ Championship
Kalen Chin took his first Australian Drivers’ Championship win in Race 1, capitalising on a Lap 1 spin for pole-sitter Harry Strik.
Lucas Stasi came home in second place, with Rocco Spinley rounding out the top three.
Chin swept Friday with another win in Race 2, taking a commanding 12.7s victory over Stasi, with Luke Klaver coming home in third.
Sports Compact
Nick Jones took the win in Race 1 in dominating fashion by 16.9s over Linda Devlin, with Tim Maynard coming home in third place.
Kurt Macready took victory in Race 2, leading home Jones and Maynard as Devlin did not take the start.
